Game Report from Captain Tracy Rintoul - end of round 1

The Flames, under the steadfast coaching of Elysia started this season ready to go. We tried out some different lines and positions and got the feel of playing together during the mini-tournament. Game 1, we hit the ice against the Geckoes with a thirst to win! Ditto for Game 2 against the Mowglies. By the end of Game 3 against the Bumbles, the Flames finished undefeated with some great teamwork and some spectacular saves by Ronnie. The Flames are currently resting and enjoying the graded games and practices. We are keen as to enter Round 2 for more of the same!

Round 2
The Flames have had a great couple of weeks, with last week managing to shut down Hailey from the Mowglies and their other top players and take a win with some convincing plays from the Flames girls. A bit of a mix around with Selina and Pam away saw Krystyna take centre and Angelique drop back to defence to help out Shul and Emily, this proved effective with the Mowglies having less break aways and good scoring opportunities. Sarah, Karyn and Sandras line played some stong attacking and really put the other team under pressure. Also Tyrina made a awesome breakout pass to create one nice goal, well done Tyrina!! Wendy stepped up and took the other wing role with Krystyna's line and really kept the pressure on. Good job Flames!!!

Round 1
Game one - Loss against Mowglies 3-6
We started well and we held good ground against the Mowglies, the team was playing well as a team and it looked like it would be a close one, the canadian import Hailey from the opposing team got a couple of good breaks and was just too strong for Gemma to stop - this time :) Game ended up with the Mowglies taking the game 6-3.

Game two - won against the Bumbles 3-1
This game showed our team really bonding together and working on the areas that our coach had mentioned in our pre game meeting, we also went for a warm up run and went into the game ready to play. Couple of nice passes gave Angelique the puck at a great time to break through the Bumbles defence and score along with a planned power play goal from Selina in the first period. This game showed what our team is capable of and we look forward to the next game.
